reading: last weekend’s edition of good weekend magazine & the mini version of marie claire jan 2011 (which i prefer more than the bulky big issues) – a very good article on women’s trafficking in australia which is a must-read.

eating: i’m currently subsisting on water & margarine on toast after a bad few nights (and early mornings) of a stomach bug/cramps which is why i’m home from work today. i have a doctor’s appointment at noon & hopefully i can eat real food. afternoon update: just came back from seeing the doctor & i have acute viral gastroentritis which means no meat, no fish & no dairy for a few days. boo! at least i’ll lose weight…

wishing: i find summer clothing so uninspiring but i did like these dresses in a fashion spread from MC especially the blue Trenery dress but for that price – I’d have to give it a miss or wait until it goes on sale…

doing: my enrollment forms for next year’s law school – distance at macquarie uni *fingers crossed*. it’s been a while since i’ve been to uni but i adore studying even if it’s part-time.

spending: on nothing (such is the joy of staying at home) although i will have to pay $22 for a doctor’s appointment (no bulk-billing!)

inspiring: this quote from the oldest living survivor of the Holocaust. what a very positive outlook on life!

i’m not a lover of pink myself but i love the deep shade of this colour.

thanks to eatdrinkchic for offering these downloadable gift tags. aren’t they cute? i’m not buying any christmas cards this year so a snappy message at the back of these cards printed on kraft or recycled paper would be cute & simple.

weekend notes: rain rain please stay

i love weekends. everyone does unless of course you work on the weekends. i’m lucky enough in my job to be able to have a long weekend every week or even a super long weekend (taking friday & monday off for a continuous 4-day weekend = tops!).

my weekends are usually filled with outings, shopping, breakfast, lunches and dinner out but the best weekends are for lounging at home especially if the weather is dire and rainy like today. i took this photo of our backyard 5 minutes ago & it was wet wet wet.

i had friday off so in the last 2 and a half days, i’ve:

finished watching season 3 of the tudors
watched eclipse (so corny!)
updated this blog & my reading blog
visited facebook a lot
painted my fingernails a pretty metallic purple
cut out some articles from magazines
had my first appt with a nutritionist/dietitian
took buffy to the vet for her second vaccination
went out to a thai dinner on friday night
been a regular couch potato and loved it

this arvo, i’m reading the 3 papers (smh, dt & sh) while watching season 3 of gossip girls. the perfect rainy weekend before another week of work starts!

It was such a beautiful day to be out and about in Sydney today – the sun was shining, blue skies everywhere but the weather was mild with a touch of coolness which is just the way I like it. I call it the cardi weather, not too hot & not too cold. I went for a walk around The Rocks area and Sydney harbour then met a girl friend for high tea at the Park Hyatt.

Out of all the high tea locations I’ve been to in Sydney (5 to be exact), this would definitely be my favourite followed by The Loft. The service was impeccable as soon as we opened the door & the staff were courteous and attentive. Of course, being seated smack bang in front of the Opera House wasn’t bad either. Behold the lovely food with the even lovelier view.

My least favourite of the food were the scones – they were a bit on the hard side and the clotted cream was too creamy.

A closer look at the sweets at the top tier. The banana macarons were to die for! Dare I say it, better than Zumbo’s.

High tea at the Park Hyatt’s harbour kitchen & bar costs $36 or $49 with a glass of Vueve champagne.

love of my life

Exactly four weeks ago, M & I took home our first puppy together – a very very cute British bulldog. We named her Buffy because she’s awesome and badass! But really, she’s just adorable and funny and the smartest little puppy (and I’m not just saying that because she’s mine). We got her from experienced breeders and we’ve met her mum & dad plus her brother and sisters (7 in that litter, only 1 boy). I fell in love with her as soon as I picked her up (picture 1). She was the most placid one there and I love the diamond shape on her forehead.

She gets really excited when she sees someone and starts wagging her wee bum. And she knows how to sit & wait for food and is almost completely toilet-trained now. She’s a smart little thing and independent too. We were playing with her one night but she was tired so she ignored everyone, went to her little house (our outdoor bar) and went to bed by herself. {love}

And guess who’s going to puppy pre-school next week?! Can’t wait – it’s going to be as much fun for me as it would be for her.
